Apple app store reaches impressive milestone
You gotta give it to Apple--these folks understand retailing and how to make money by offering up channels for you to purchase music and applications for their devices.
The iPhone has really redefined the smartphone genre and Apple has set a standard for providing an marketplace where owners can get some really great applications for their devices. In fact, Apple's App Store has been so successful that it now can boast that more than 1.5 billion apps have been downloaded there.
Now, it does appear that this has not been a real money-maker yet, as an overwhelming majority of the apps downloaded are the free ones. Nonetheless, this is an incredible selling point for Apple devices.
1.5 billion down...billions more to go. Do your thing Apple.
