Disney Buys MarvelThis is less tech and more geek but, today, it was announced that Disney has purchased Marvel Entertainment for a cool $4 billion (a mixture of cash and stock to Marvel shareholders).

In the deal, Disney now owns the rights to over 5,000 Marvel characters.

To me, this sounds like Disney just got the bargain of the century.  This means that it now owns the rights to such well-know characters as the X-Men, Spider Man, The Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America and a host of others, not to mention the licensing on everything from lunchboxes, to apparel to cartoons.  I can see Disney being able to recoup their money very quickly on this deal and making billions more, to boot.

I have to say, I didn't see this one coming.  It sounds like we're in for a wild ride.
