Video game maket takes huge sales hit
Very few industries are recession-proof. We know, now, that the video game sector is not one of them.
July saw the third-worst drop ever in sales since this data began being tracked in 1995. Sales dropped a whopping 29% for the month.
Compared to last year, overall sales are down a total of 14% which, in the video game market, is billions of dollars.
Analysts are hoping that the big titles coming over the next several months will help to spur sales and pull the sector out of this slump. However, that's a lot of ground to make up.
I dunno...when times are tight, how many people are running out to spend $50 or $60 on every new game that's out. I think there may need to be a re-evaluation of game pricing if the concern is about increasing sales.
