Social networking is really just beginning to come into its own as a marketing tool. However, Facebook and MySpace have shown that there are a lot of folks out there who have no problem meeting and sharing online. African-Americans are no exception to this phenomenon.
Tapping into this, Pepsi is launching the "We Inspire" campaign (PepsiWeInspire.com). The site aims to be a place where African-American mothers can come to share inspirational thoughts and stories.
The campaign will target African-American mothers and will utilize black female celebrities such as Taraji P. Henson, Queen Latifah, Raven-Symone and Keyshia Cole sharing stories of inspiration. The
campaign will focus on six themes: Love, laughter, hope, joy, beauty and wisdom.
In addition to the online push, there will also be television (through BET), as well as promotion in magazines and through retail partners.
The campaign will launch in February (Black History Month, of course. Really, because, in whatother months do black people buy stuff? *sarcasm*).
Let's just hope it's done with the taste and respect black mothers deserve.
