Microsoft Releases Free Antivirus Suite

It's 2009 and I am still amazed at the number of people I know that either don't have any antivirus software on their Windows PCs or never bothered to pay the subscription fees to keep the antivirus software that came with the computer up-to-date.

Well, it looks like Microsoft has something for these slackers -- free antivirus software that doesn't require you do anything extra to keep it licensed or update.

The suite, known as Microsoft Security Essentials, is still in beta.  I am not Microsoft fan but, I am sure that free antivirus software offered to Windows users by Microsoft has got to have those who sell antivirus software shaking in their boots.

Also, to spread the love, or if you don't care for Microsoft products, you can, instead, grab a copy of the free antivirus I use for windows, Avast! Home, from here.
